The Saxony Hotel

I lived across from this hotel, the Saxony on the 3200 block of Collins Ave, Miami Beach. One of the last great Art Deco resorts in Miami beach, this place was awesome, and definitely my favorite in Miami. I guess partially because of it's worn, dated deco looks and great design cues. Most intriguing to me was the top floor, with it's it's rows of over sized, unobstructed prairie style- picture windows and tall ceilings (est 15ft). The top floor was a club when the Saxony running.

The owners were in the process of gutting the property and building an adjacent tower with residential and guest rooms. Not sure what it looks like now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saxony_Hotel
